How to Find Real Comfort in Comfort Foods [Recipe!]

Truth bomb time.

I used to think being healthy meant giving up everything that tasted good. Sweets, carbs, caffeine, cheese (ohhh cheese, YOU!!)… no way could I enjoy any of these and still consider myself a “healthy” person (or be happy with my body!). For years I tried diet after diet and found myself fighting restriction after restriction. What a totally miserable way to live.

In the past few years I’ve come to realize it’s okay to enjoy your real favorite foods as long as you remember the golden rule – quality over quantity.

Instead of grabbing the fast food burger or bag of stale cookies, take the time (and love) to cook it yourself. Making or baking it fresh, or at the very least choosing gourmet over the pre-packaged stuff, says something about the way you think of yourself. It says you know you deserve only the best.

So I dare you to take a day off from diet mentality and splurge a little with my favorite upgraded version of baked mac n’ cheese here on the blog.

We’re almost through this crazy cold winter but in the meantime, we both could use a little comfort food.

Now I want to hear from you! What are your favorite comfort food recipes? What would you like to see me create a “your healthiest you” version of? Share in the comments below and I may just answer your request in my book!
