A tea for every occasion!

I once showed up to my acupuncturist on my bike without a helmet. She gave me a gentle {okay, maybe not so gentle} smackdown and put a stop to that.

This week I showed up and she immediately asked “Are you drinking coffee?” and I knew I was in for another smackdown.

I thought I was okay with my coffee habit – I wasn’t having trouble sleeping and my gut was feeling fine. But remember how I’ve been sick a few times over the past few months? What I didn’t realize (and what my acupuncturist saw) was that my body was inflamed and coffee was part of the problem. An inflamed body is way less likely to heal from sickness, no matter how many superfoods or immunity supplements you pack into it.

Since I can’t have my favorite almond milk lattes, I’ve also rediscovered my love for tea, including a newfound taste for the oh-so-popular matcha tea. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite teas for every occasion, including my go-to coffee alternative that were part of cool article I was featured in at US Metro.

My favorite teas for every occasion:

Coffee Replacement: matcha LOVE organic

Matcha is an awesome coffee alternative because it delivers the desired energy boost minus the jitters and caffeine crash, PLUS it’s packed with antioxidants that actually help your body burn fat. Matcha has a slightly earthy flavor so it may take you a cup or two to get used to (at least it did for me!).

Bloating Cure: Kusmi Blue Detox

Feeling bloated after a heavy meal? Try some hot tea! Kusmi’s Blue Detox tea is a good option because it combines yerba mate and green tea, which both boost metabolism, with nettle, which is a natural diuretic.

Upset Stomach: Harney & Sons Ginger Tea

Ginger is known to relax the smooth muscle in your gut and boost digestion so it’s great for settling an upset stomach. I always carry a ginger tea, like Harney & Sons ginger tea, with me when I travel – it’s an easy way to calm a belly that’s bloated, nauseous, or just not feeling good.

Cold: Davids Tea Cold 911

There’s nothing more comforting than a cup of hot tea when you’re sick with a cold. David’s Tea Cold 911 is one of my favorites when I’m feeling under the weather because it has eucalyptus, which is a known decongestant, and orange peel, for a Vitamin C punch.

Clear Skin: Republic of Tea Get Gorgeous

Any tea that is packed with antioxidants is going to be your skin’s best friend. Rooibos is widely known in the health community for supporting beautiful skin and hair, so drink up!

Weight Loss: Sakara Life Detox Tea

Your body is designed to cleanse itself of environmental and naturally occurring toxins, but our modern lifestyles can wear on these cleansing systems, ultimately leading to toxin buildup and inflammation throughout the body. I reach for Sakara Life’s Detox Tea when I feel like my body could use a reset from one too many cupcakes or nights out on the town. Rose helps calm inflammation while lemongrass is a natural diuretic and encourages your body to flush out those nasty toxins. The citrus in this tea also acts as a liver activator, helping your body’s top cleansing organ get to work!

On-the-Go Pickup: Panatea Instant Matcha

Once you start drinking matcha, you just can’t stop! But it’s not always easy to find when you’re out and about. Support your metabolism and get in those antioxidants even when you’re on-the-go with Panatea’s Instant Matcha.
