No time to work out? This is for you.

Are you sitting down?? Perfect because I have just the thing for you.

Chair. Yoga.

Yep. You read that correctly. Yoga. In your chair.

My girl [and mom to new twin boys and another little fellow] Kristin McGee is sharing a no excuses way to practice yoga…from your chair. If you’re like the rest of us, you spend too much time sitting at a desk and not enough time moving your body. Kristin’s book, Chair Yoga, introduces 100 yoga poses and exercises that can be done anywhere, anytime, from your chair. Taking chair pose to a whole other level… genius. And the more you move while you’re in your chair, the more you’ll be inspired to move when you’re out of your chair.

Do your body a favor and make Chair Yoga: Sit, Stretch and Strengthen Your Way to a Happier, Healthier You next up on Your Healthiest You spring/summer reading list. Divided into chapters organized by body part, each exercise includes step-by-step instructions and easy to follow photos so you can stretch it out at your desk, on an airplane {it’s been perfect for me with all of my recent travel!}, bus, subway, a doctor’s office waiting room, or on your couch at home.

Chair Yoga

Let me guess: you’re thinking it might feel kinda silly or uncomfortable to just bust out doing yoga in a chair somewhere. Or maybe you feel like you don’t have time. A few weeks ago I shared how I had been neglecting my me-time and how I reframed it.

I’m encouraging you to push all of those stories aside for just a minute and think about how good it would feel to just DO something because you know you need it. That’s it. No other judgements or thoughts and concerns about anyone else around you or in your life – just you, here, now.

Giving ourselves that permission can be so powerful.

I promise you, a few yoga stretches and breath work in your chair between sending that email and launching into that meeting will make a difference. It’s not a major commitment, it doesn’t throw off the entire flow of your day, you don’t have to sacrifice doing something else – it’s perfect.

I’d love to hear what you all think about implementing this method into your week. Do you find yourself needing a good mid-day stretch? Share your thoughts in the comments below or on social media. Don’t forget to tag me @RobynYoukilis and #YourHealthiestYou so I can stay in touch.
