An Unexpected Post About Valentine’s Day [ + a killer recipe ;) ]

Let’s be honest, Valentine’s Day can be just a wee bit tricky for most. Often we feel “alone” or if you are in a romantic relationship the holiday can be scarred by stress or disappointment.

And worse than that? Bad chocolate we eat simply because it’s there! Yuck!

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

You have the power to make February 14th whatever you want! And the truth is, everyday should be about love. And not loving your mother, brother, sister, husband, boyfriend, cousin – but loving yourself.

How often do you buy yourself flowers?

Dress up for no reason?

Cook yourself a beautifully plated dinner?

Splurge on something that’s higher quality without guilt?

We are often so ‘busy’ caring for everyone else we forget – love is not something you do, it’s who you are. {tweet that!} Before you can share your love with others you have to successfully learn to love yourself. And that means taking the time to stop and listen to your body, your emotions, your needs and wants.

So this Valentine’s Day, how can you show others you love them by first loving yourself?

I’ve got three awesome ways to help you do just that over on the blog:

  1. Check out this special love day meditation from my friend Gabby Bernstein
  2. Make yourself a fab D.I.Y. skin scrub from simple ingredients in your kitchen
  3. And of course, you MUST make these KILLER (and surprisingly good for you) peanut butter and chocolate balls!

Be sure to share your “loving yourself up” moments by leaving a comment below or snapping a pic and tagging me on instagram @robynyoukilis and #yourhealthiestyou.
