Best of the Blog Edition

This “Best of the Blog” edition feels soooo spot on… OMG. Read on and let me know if this feels supportive for you right now too.

Here in the US we’re approaching the end of summer fast! Naturally this has brought up a lot of feelings for me, my YHY community and my clients. So I wanted to take a moment today to check in with you – how are you feeling? Has the summer been everything that you expected it would be, or are you (like me) feeling like OMG what happened?

Don’t get me wrong, there have been a million amazing memories from the past few months, but it does feel like June and July (and August now!) flew by. And when I checked in with myself last week, I realized I was having all the feels about this.

We talked about these “feels” during last Tuesday’s call with my high level coaching group, The Rockstar Coaching Collective. After we all shared our thoughts on the summer ending, I walked everyone through how they could “take back the summer,” that cultivated in the following exercise.

This simple exercise has the power to shift your energy away from the end-of-summer sadness, and into a place of empowerment in just five minutes. You’ll need a piece of paper and a pen or pencil.

How to set your end of summer intention:

First, take a few deep breaths to bring yourself into the present moment.

Next, I want you to imagine yourself two weeks from today. Think about where you will be – will you be at work, back to school, will your kids be in school? Be as specific as you can.

Then, ask yourself: How do I want to feel in that moment? Instead of just thinking about this or writing down a word or two, I want you to draw this out. Don’t worry – you don’t have to show this to anyone (I’m no artist myself!). Give yourself a few minutes to literally paint the picture of how you want to feel.

Now look at your picture – what does it tell you? Do you want to feel grounded, peaceful, at ease? Or do you want to feel light, energized, carefree? You can write down a few words around your picture if that’s helpful.

The final piece is to get clear on what is going to make you feel the way you want to feel. What foods do you want to eat to feel grounded? What people do you want to spend more time with to feel carefree? What activities will help you find that peaceful state? Write these down underneath your picture.

This is your action plan. Often the reason we feel regret, frustration or disappointment is because our actions, how we choose to spend our time and energy, don’t line up with how we actually want to feel. By getting clear on your intention for the rest of summer and what actions will support that intention, you’re setting yourself up to feel the way you want to feel.

Here’s mine:

Here’s what I’m committing to the next two weeks:
Best of the Blog
  • Taking a moment to pause and connect to self when I wake up in the morning
  • A daily meditation practice (even if it’s just 1 minute!)
  • Listening to Kundalini music wherever I can

You don’t have to share your drawing (but you totally can!), but I’d love to hear from you: How do you want to feel when the summer comes to an end? What are you going to do to support that feeling? Share with us all on social media – make sure to tag me @RobynYoukilis and #YourHealthiestYou so I can see your photos and be inspired.
