Welcome to the final post in my Feel Good Summer Series! Today we’re talking about skin protection from the inside out. Most people think sun protection is all about what you put ON your skin, but there’s actually a lot you can do internally to support your skin’s health and resilience. Let me share what I’ve learned about building protection from within.

Here’s What I Learned About Internal Skin Protection:

🍓 Food as Internal Sunscreen: Antioxidants in your bloodstream literally protect your cells from UV damage. People who eat antioxidant-rich diets have better sun tolerance and tan more easily vs. burning. Wild, right?

The catch? It takes 6-8 weeks of consistent intake to build up that protection. Most people wait until they’re already on vacation – way too late!

🥕 The Foods That Actually Work:

  • Lycopene (tomatoes, watermelon) acts like natural SPF
  • Beta-carotene (carrots, sweet potatoes) helps you tan vs. burn
  • Vitamin C (berries, citrus) protects collagen
  • Healthy fats (avocado, olive oil) support skin barrier function

🧘‍♀️ The Recovery Game: Your skin experiences inflammation after sun exposure (even with SPF). Supporting your body’s healthy inflammation response helps you recover faster and maintain that glow longer.
