“Spiritual growth is like childbirth. You dilate, then you contract. You dilate, then you contract again. As painful as it all feels, it’s the necessary rhythm for reaching the ultimate goal of total openness.” – Marianne Williamson
I read this quote to almost all of my coaching clients last week. Sometimes the journey to your healthiest you is expansive and sometimes it’s not, but reading this quote reminds us that every moment is an integral part of our journey. Becoming who we really are, the best us we can be, is not a linear path. It’s a cycle, like everything in life.
My point in all of this? Your perspective on time, change and progress can make or break your success. Think about the meaning of the word resolution: an answer or solution to a problem, or the act of finding one. Making a New Year’s Resolution in itself implies that you see where you are as a problem which cloaks your intention in negativity and can hinder your ability to change.
Instead of viewing change as something you have to do or a destination you have to reach, see it as something already happening within you. Make tiny shifts towards your best self every day, and forget this ‘new year, new you’ bullsh*t. Your only job is to breathe. Next time you find yourself up thinking about your resolutions or swamped in worry or fear, soothe yourself with the mantra:
A day of this will bring significant change.
A week of this will change your life.
Speaking of changes, there are some big things happening here at Your Healthiest You this year!
I’ve listened closely to your requests and am developing new, gutsier content, a fresh website look, upgraded ways to work with me, and a piece of me you can keep with you forever – A BOOK!!!!
I’m so excited to share that I’m officially working on my first book to be published in 2016 with Kyle Books! I’ll be sharing snippets along the way and asking for your input, support and help! It truly takes a village to create something this big and I’m so happy that I have you guys to lean on and connect with through this creative process.
Stay tuned for more info but for now remember that no matter where you are, you are exactly where you’re meant to be :). Let me know how this mantra is working for you this week on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #yourhealthiestyou.
Love you all and thank you for your support along this journey.
