How I stay healthy while traveling {cruise pics inside!}

What is one thing I absolutely never forget to pack when I’m going on vacation??

My healthy habits 😉

All joking aside… It’s true. I find that I enjoy myself more and feel wayyyy more relaxed when I stay true to myself and what works best for my body. Today I’m sharing exactly what I did to feel AMAZING even when surrounded by endless buffet meals and all the desserts on my family cruise last week.

When we’re traveling, we often use it as an excuse to throw our entire healthy living routine out the window and just indulge. Now don’t get me wrong, I totally support living it up while on vacay, just not to the point where you come home from a week away feeling bloated, sluggish and blah – because that’s no fun.

Here are three totally do-able tips for a FABULOUS and fun vacation:

My Healthy Travel Tips:

  1. Stick with your non-negotiables {as best you can}! Whatever makes you feel your best in your regular life is just as essential when you are on vacay. Are you a morning journaler? Bring your notebook along! Is running something you know makes you feel your best? Don’t forget to pack your sneakers. I actually usually work out MORE on vacation because I have more free time.
  2. Stay super hydrated before, during and after travel. Traveling, especially flying, is super dehydrating, so it’s especially important to drink up. Water, water and more water. Buy yourself a few big bottles right when you get to your destination and then keep your mini fridge stocked. Dehydration is the cause of so many issues: constipation, sluggish metabolism, low energy, headaches, irritability, sugar cravings, trouble sleeping, muscle cramps and fatigue… I definitely don’t want ANY of those making an appearance during my vacation if I can help it.
  3. Take your probiotics!  It’s easy for things to get, well, uncomfortable when traveling and being constipated when all you are wearing is a swimsuit? Not my idea of a good time. Taking your probiotics (and water, and movement!) is a great way to stay regular while your schedule might be less-than-so. My current fave probiotics are from Enzymedica and you can check them out here!
