I have a confession…. I think I’m totally addicted to running. Some people meditate on a mat, others read, I run. It clears my head, my thoughts and even my heart, allowing for new inspiring ideas and motivation to naturally flow through me.
I’m proud to say that I can now officially call myself a runner (you can read more about my journey from 5 minutes of torture to a half marathon here), and I’ve found a new way that I can give back to the world.
This March, I am honored to be running in the NYC half-marathon and raising money for an amazing cause in the process. My run will benefit not just my own health, but Every Mother Counts.
Every Mother Counts is an advocacy and mobilization campaign to increase education and support for maternal mortality reduction globally. They’re an incredible organization doing real things to help real women. Distance is the biggest barrier to a woman and her family getting the care they need. So many pregnant women live far from health services around the world and that distance does make a difference.
Simply put, I want to run so that others don’t have to and I am hoping you will lend your support no matter how big or small.

100% of your funds raised in this marathon campaign will be going to two new grants. We are funding training for 15 women in Haiti to become skilled birth attendants who will each attend at least 100 deliveries per year and we are also providing transport vouchers for women in western Uganda so that they can access maternity care throughout their pregnancies. With the money raised in this half-marathon, we can now commit more to these incredible grants.
