How to Get Back to Human

April was FULL ON! For Team YHY, I held our Rockstar Retreat (which as you know from last newsletter went amazing), and personally, we went as a family to Florida for Passover, headed to the West Coast for Coachella, and, finally, now I’m back home. The airports were packed again.

Although, I’m always grateful for all I get to do, it def takes a second to get back into the swing of things especially when kids are involved. I heard the idea of “getting back to human” from Meghan Templer (check out her great blog about it here) and the phrase has really resonated with me since, so much so that I wanted to share a few tangible tips of my own.

How to Get Back to Human

Maybe your baby didn’t sleep through the night or you’re getting back from a family trip or  maybe you feel there just aren’t enough hours in the day. Here’s how I ease myself back into life when it’s not easing into me:

Drink a ton of water: Hydration helps. It increases flow, and can help get you through when you’re low on energy. Dehydration does the opposite so don’t put any additional stress on your body. Every time I think I’m doing well with my water, when I add it up, I realize I’m actually WAY far off. These bottles have been everywhere and are super helpful! I also love my adult sippy cup from Your Joyologist

Deep breathing: Take a few seconds throughout the day to bring your energy back into yourself. Whether it’s a few moments of legs up the wall or just taking a few deep breaths, grounding yourself will help guide your day and help you root back into yourself. Breathe fully into your back, lungs, hips, go DEEP.

Next Right Thing: On days where you’re running on fumes all you have to do is focus on the next right thing. What’s the one thing you need to get done? Take it all one baby step at a time.

When you’re not exactly feeling like yourself, the easiest thing is to get back to basics. Go easy on yourself, friends!

PS Are you an IIN health coach or currently in the program? After almost three years we are gathering again for the Reconnect and Rejoice event May 21st-22nd in Miami (or you can join virtually)! I’ll be speaking Saturday and other presenters include Deepak Chopra MD, Dr. Daniel Amen, Andrew Weil, MD, Gabby Bernstein and more! Come make new friends and reconnect with old, dance, breathe and celebrate! I’m so excited! Grab your tickets here.
